Help is on the way for Silent Hill Townfall players stuck on its toughest stealth sections.

Screen Burn, the studio behind the horror game, has released patch v1.3.1 for the PC version on Steam and Epic. The studio said the update significantly improves stuttering caused by PSO compilation issues, the behind-the-scenes process where a PC prepares graphics effects before they appear on screen Video Games Chronicle.

The same announcement promised a separate fix. Gameplay balancing for The Weight is on its way.

“Also, we’ve heard you on struggles with The Weight – gameplay balancing on its way ASAP,” the studio said.

The Weight is a slow, top-heavy enemy that patrols set areas and gives chase if it spots the player Push Square. It appears in two major sections, one near the middle of the game and one near the end. It usually cannot be killed. If it catches the player, that is instant death.

Those sections have drawn loud complaints. Video Games Chronicle described the game as outstanding horror marred by infuriating stealth in The Weight sections. Eurogamer’s review described it as continuing Silent Hill’s revival, blending stealth, detailed world design and social realism Eurogamer. German coverage pointed to unfair spawn behaviour, where the creature can appear too close or in difficult spots, as a particular flashpoint.

Screen Burn has not given a date for the balancing update. A future PlayStation 5 patch is expected to address The Weight. The studio said on its official X account, @_ScreenBurn, that more improvements are coming soon.

For newcomers, the setting is simple. Silent Hill: Townfall takes place in 1996 in St. Amelia, a fictional Scottish fishing town. Players follow Simon Ordell, who emerges from the water with an IV drip attached.

For fans, this means two separate jobs are under way. One is performance. The PC stutter fix is live now. The other is fairness. The stealth fix is still to come.
