Princess Diana's older sisters will be "pretty annoyed" about their brother's new memoir, royal expert Ingrid Seward has told HELLO!.

Seward said Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes will dislike seeing their sister back in the headlines. The comment came in response to Swan Song: Diana, my Sister, the memoir by Charles Spencer, Earl Spencer. HELLO!

Seward described the two sisters as very private. She said they tend not to get involved in royal drama.

That reputation has held for decades. Diana grew up with three siblings: Lady Sarah McCorquodale, Lady Jane Fellowes and Earl Spencer. Both sisters have stayed largely out of public life since Diana's death.

The book has already made noise. It became the UK's bestselling hardback non-fiction book in 2026. It includes the claim that King Charles acted "giddily elated" after Princess Diana died. HELLO!

Earl Spencer has also issued an apology to Piers Morgan over a factual error in the book. The run-up to publication was bumpy too. A copy of the memoir was reported stolen days before its release. HELLO!

The family links add another layer. Lady Sarah McCorquodale met King Charles at a party in 1977 and they briefly dated. Lady Jane Fellowes married Robert Fellowes, who served as assistant private secretary to the late Queen.

Reaction beyond the sisters has been strong. HELLO! reported that Prince William and Prince Harry would be "horrified and furious" about the book. HELLO! Seward added that Princess Diana herself would have been disappointed by its release.

Earl Spencer has said his sister wanted her sons to know that their father really loved her. That claim was also discussed by Seward in a separate interview. HELLO!

HELLO! has asked readers whether Earl Spencer was right to publish a revealing memoir about Princess Diana. Seward is the author of the book Catherine & Diana, and has covered the royal family for decades.

For now, the sisters have not commented publicly.
