A stage mascot falls and crushes a world-famous rock band live on stage. That sends them straight to Hell.

That is the set-up for Gone to Hell, a Canadian adult animated series — cartoons made for grown-up viewers — scheduled to debut on the BangerTV YouTube channel on October 30, Deadline reported.

The run is eight episodes and the story is set in 1994. It follows fictional band Demon Destroyer, whose members are killed by their own giant stage prop during a show and wake up in the underworld.

Co-creators Brian Peco and Craig Mailman developed the show. Banger Films is producing it, in what is the company's first animated series.

Backing comes from three Canadian screen organisations: the Independent Production Fund, the Canada Media Fund and Ontario Creates. Music is by Robin Hatch.

The voice cast is led by Paul Spence as Demon Destroyer frontman Rick Fashun. Chris Locke voices Dev Devilio, Derrick Beckles voices drummer Donnie and Jackie Pirico voices bassist Jojo.

Kevin Morgan takes two roles. He voices Derek, Dev's assistant, and Deva, Dev's sister.

For viewers, this means a short, self-contained run with a fixed end point. Eight episodes. One band. One very bad gig.

BangerTV has already posted Gone To Hell shorts on YouTube featuring Spence alongside Graeme Barrett of Audio Opera, BangerTV shows.
