Tom Curry has signed a two-year contract extension to stay with Sale Sharks until the end of the 2027-28 campaign, according to BBC Sport.

The news was confirmed on 30 September 2026. It means the England international will extend a stay that already stretches back almost a decade. He has become a fixture for club and country.

Curry made his Sale debut as an 18-year-old in October 2016. He has played his senior club rugby with the Sharks ever since. He has now won 71 caps for England, with a cap marking each international appearance. His identical twin brother Ben also plays for Sale.

Sale director of rugby Alex Sanderson, who leads the club's rugby strategy and recruitment, described Curry as "fundamental" to the team. It was a one-word verdict. It left little doubt about his value.

The new deal follows a difficult run with injury. Curry missed the majority of the 2023-24 season after being diagnosed with femoroacetabular impingement syndrome, a hip problem where extra bone growth causes friction and pain in the joint. He underwent hip surgery in February 2024. He was later restricted to nine Premiership appearances, in England's top club league, during an injury-hit season, according to Yahoo Sports.

Curry worked his way back into England contention. He was named to start against Ireland in February 2026, with George Ford selected at fly-half, the playmaker who steers the attack, in the same match squad, according to Sale Sharks. That recall underlined his return to full fitness.

What makes this stand out is staying power. Curry plays in the thick of the contest, tackling hard and competing for the ball on the ground after tackles. That work drains the legs and shoulders. To come through hip surgery and remain a first-choice player speaks to toughness and patience.

For fans, this means continuity. Sale keep a senior England player and a link to their recent past. England keep a battle-hardened option in a key position.

For newcomers, this is a good entry point. Follow Curry at the breakdown, the contest for the ball after a tackle, and you will quickly see why Sale wanted him secured.
