Princess Sara of Jordan Marries in Amman Palace Ceremony

Jordan's royal family celebrated a wedding on Sept. 30, when Princess Sara bint Faisal married Ali Murabit Al Sawwaf at Zahran Palace in Amman.
The ceremony took place at the royal residence in the Jordanian capital, according to Town & Country. It drew the king's immediate family and the extended Hashemite family for a daytime gathering. The setting was familiar.
King Abdullah and Queen Rania of Jordan attended the ceremony. Their son, Crown Prince Al Hussein, and his wife, Princess Rajwa Al Hussein, were also present, as seen in photographs distributed by The Associated Press.
Queen Rania shared photographs from the ceremony on social media. She added her congratulations to the couple in the post.
Princess Sara is the king's niece. She is the daughter of Prince Faisal bin Al Hussein, the younger brother of King Abdullah.
Her parents are Prince Faisal and his first wife, Princess Alia. The former couple share four children: Princess Ayah, Prince Omar, and twins Princess Sara and Princess Aisha. Prince Faisal and Princess Alia divorced in 2008.
The engagement of Princess Sara and Al Sawwaf was announced in January 2025. The announcement set up a wait of more than a year and a half before the September ceremony.
Zahran Palace has become the family's go-to venue for weddings. Crown Prince Hussein wed Princess Rajwa there in June 2023. That wedding drew international attention and large crowds in Amman.
What makes this stand out for royal watchers is the family picture. Three generations of Jordanian royals appeared in the same place, from the king and queen to the young crown prince couple to the bride's generation of cousins.
For American readers meeting this family for the first time, the lines are simple. King Abdullah leads the monarchy. Prince Faisal is his younger brother. Princess Sara is the next generation, and her wedding brought the whole household back to the same palace where the heir was married two years earlier.
