Netflix Premieres 'East of Eden' in New York with Florence Pugh Leading Cast

Netflix gave East of Eden its New York launch at The Plaza Hotel on 30 September 2026.

The premiere brought the limited series, meaning a show planned as a single self-contained run, in front of cameras before release. Stars Florence Pugh, Christopher Abbott and Mike Faist attended. The arrivals were documented by Deadline.

Pugh stars alongside Abbott and Faist in the series, according to Yahoo. The three actors led the New York guest list. Their presence put the central trio together in public ahead of launch.

They did not walk alone. Aubrey Plaza, Carrie Coon, Paul Dano and Tracy Letts also attended the Plaza Hotel event. Writer-showrunner Zoe Kazan was there too. Showrunner is the industry term for the writer-producer in day-to-day charge of a series.

Kazan wrote the Netflix adaptation, as first reported by Variety. That report identified East of Eden as a Netflix limited series adaptation. Kazan is now credited as showrunner on the production.

Netflix describes East of Eden as a modern interpretation of Steinbeck's masterpiece about the multigenerational Trask family. The description comes from the company's show guide. The company lists the title among its new shows coming to Netflix in 2026, according to Netflix Tudum.

The Plaza premiere followed early promotion work in New York City. Pugh, Abbott and Faist were already out promoting the Netflix series in the city. That activity was reported on 29 September by Just Jared.

A New York premiere is a working night as well as a public one. It gathers cast and creative leadership in one room after months of separate work. The crew, the writers' room and post-production teams have finished their core jobs by this point.

For viewers keeping track, this means East of Eden has moved from production into launch. The story is set. The next detail to watch is when Netflix sets a wider release date.
