East of Eden Tops Netflix TV Chart With 6.5 Million Views in Four Days

East of Eden has gone straight to No. 1 on Netflix's weekly TV rankings after 6.5 million views in its first four days of streaming.
The figures, which cover the show's opening weekend, were published on Oct. 6 in Netflix data reported by Variety. Views is the streamer's own measure, counted as total hours watched divided by running time, and reported each week for its film and series catalogue.
The seven-part drama is an adaptation of John Steinbeck's novel. It was created by Zoe Kazan and stars Florence Pugh, who plays Cathy Ames, according to Netflix's Tudum guide.
The book is moving too. Penguin Classics sales of the Steinbeck novel are up 200% since Netflix announced the greenlight for the series.
East of Eden led television, but it was not the most-watched Netflix title overall. That spot went to Unabomber, starring Jacob Tremblay, which drew 24.9 million views in its second week of streaming. It topped all film and series for the week of Sept. 28 to Oct. 4.
On the films chart, The Widower: 'Til Death Do Us Part took second place with 11.6 million views. Tyler Perry's Doing Life followed in third with 9.3 million views.
Back on television, Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story placed second behind East of Eden. It drew 5.7 million views in its third week of streaming.
Netflix described East of Eden as now streaming on Oct. 1, per its Tudum page. The New York Times had included it among the films and series coming to Netflix in October 2026. As of Oct. 1, the series held an 89% "fresh" critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes based on 27 reviews, as reported by Forbes.
