Hull City's Gourna-Douath unharmed after car ends on side

Hull City midfielder Lucas Gourna-Douath was unharmed after a crash that left a car on its side near the club's training ground on Thursday, 1 October.
Gourna-Douath, 24, plays in midfield, the role that links defence and attack. A black Mercedes understood to belong to him crashed on Millhouse Woods Lane in Cottingham, East Yorkshire, close to Hull's training base, BBC reported.
Pictures from the scene show the car tipped onto its side. A resident told the BBC the vehicle had struck and damaged her parked car before coming to rest.
Hull City confirmed that no one was harmed in the road traffic accident near the training ground. Humberside Police said emergency services were called at 08:30 GMT, BBC reported.
The date of the incident was confirmed as Thursday, 1 October 2026 by the Hull Daily Mail.
It is the second such incident on the same road involving a Hull player in recent weeks. In September, winger Sorba Thomas, the wide attacker who plays for Hull City, was involved in a crash on the same stretch.
Hull confirmed at the time that Thomas was unharmed after his car accident, The Athletic reported.
For fans, this means relief first and football second. Two cars badly damaged on the same quiet lane within a month is an unhappy coincidence. The key point for Hull is simple. Both players walked away without injury.
