Princess Charlene lifted baby Anna high into the air and kissed her hands at Monaco City Hall on 30 September. Anna, a baby girl born in June, is Monaco's 10,000th citizen. She was the guest of honour at a reception hosted by the city to mark the milestone, according to Hello Magazine.

Prince Albert II of Monaco and Princess Charlene of Monaco attended the reception together. The venue was the Mairie de Monaco, the City Hall that houses the principality's elected municipal council. Anna arrived with her parents and siblings. She met Albert and Charlene during the ceremony.

Charlene did most of the cuddling. She held the three-month-old up in the air for photographs. She then cradled her close, held her small hands and kissed them.

She beamed throughout. Albert stood beside her and smiled as the family chatted with the couple. The photographs show a relaxed exchange, with Anna calm in Charlene's arms.

Charlene wore a white midi dress with a muted floral pattern and nude heels for the daytime engagement. She kept her hair pulled back and her accessories simple. The look suited the setting. Formal, but unfussy.

What makes this stand out is how at ease Charlene looked with a newborn. For fans, this means a rare set of warm, close-up pictures. The Princess, a mother of twins herself, needed no coaxing.

The 10,000th citizen reception is a small civic ritual with a big number attached. Monaco counts its Monegasque nationals — the citizens who hold the principality's nationality, distinct from the much larger resident population — and Anna now carries that landmark number. The City Hall reception put her family, and the princely couple, in the same frame to record it.
