M\u00f6tley Cr\u00fce pass one billion Spotify streams with Kickstart My Heart

Mötley Crüe have passed one billion streams on Spotify with “Kickstart My Heart”, the band confirmed on 1 October. The Los Angeles group shared a photograph of all four members holding the platform’s plaque to mark the total.
The post appeared on the band’s Instagram account. Singer Vince Neil, bassist Nikki Sixx, drummer Tommy Lee and guitarist John 5 posed together with the award. The caption read: “ONE BILLION streams of Kickstart My Heart on Spotify – What an incredible honor!” It continued: “A billion thanks to all the Crüeheads around the world who helped take it there. This one's for YOU!!”
“Kickstart My Heart” was released as a single from the band’s fifth studio album, Dr. Feelgood, in 1989. It peaked at No. 27 on the Billboard Hot 100, the United States singles chart, in early 1990, according to Billboard. The song was inspired by Sixx’s near-fatal heroin overdose in 1987, after which he was revived by paramedics.
The news follows a busy period on stage. The band performed the song on this year’s American Idol finale with Carrie Underwood. It then completed the Return of the Carnival of Sins tour with Tesla and Extreme.
The North American leg ended on 26 September at Cascades Amphitheater in Ridgefield, Washington. The 33-date run, which began in July, was organised to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Carnival of Sins and the band’s 45th anniversary, according to Mötley Crüe. The next scheduled date is the Tons of Rock festival in Oslo, Norway, in June next year.
Catalogue activity continues alongside the live dates. A 45th anniversary edition of the band’s 1982 debut album, Too Fast For Love, is due out on 30 October. John 5 has played guitar for the band since 2023.
The group has sold more than 100 million albums worldwide. It lists seven platinum and multi-platinum albums in the United States, 22 Top 40 mainstream rock hits and six Top 20 pop singles.
One dollar from every ticket sold on the 2026 tour will be donated to ASAP (After School Arts Program) through the band’s Giveback initiative. A limited-edition picture-disc box set, Crücial Crüe 1981-1989, will be available on 10 July as a five-LP set and five-CD replica set, collecting the first five studio albums from Too Fast For Love to Dr. Feelgood.
What makes this stand out is the gap. The song first charted in early 1990. One billion plays since.
