Paul McCartney is expanding The Boys of Dungeon Lane into a Special Edition with three previously unreleased songs and a new version of his duet with Ringo Starr.

The plan was announced in a post titled "Paul announces 'The Boys of Dungeon Lane' (Special Edition)" on Paul McCartney's official website on 30 September, with full details reported by Rolling Stone on 1 October.

The Special Edition stretches the album to 18 tracks. The three unheard songs land near the end of the running order. They are "City Fox," "One Night Stand" and "Chelsea Boots," listed as tracks 15, 16 and 17.

Track 18 is billed as "Home to Us – Flip Mix." It is a fresh take on McCartney's duet with Starr. In this flip mix, the two singers switch the parts they sang on the original recording.

"Home to Us" looks back to their early days in Liverpool. That is the city where both men grew up. The new mix keeps the song but changes who sings what.

The release also gets a new visual identity. The announcement confirms new artwork for the set. The physical version uses a cover taken from a silkscreened collage by artist Kate Gibb. The image is built from more than 100 pictures from McCartney's personal collection.

Shoppers will have more than one format to choose from. The Special Edition is planned as a limited-edition 2LP, a double-vinyl set that spreads the music across two records, pressed on orange and blue marble vinyl. A CD edition is planned alongside it.

Listings on McCartney's official shop point to further options for collectors. They include an exclusive commentary-edition digital album with seven bonus tracks of McCartney telling stories behind the songs. There is also a limited-edition Third Man Records white-label LP, a collector's pressing with a plain label. A Barnes & Noble exclusive offers a gold vinyl LP with a photo print, plus a 12-page lyric booklet and embossed cover artwork.

For fans, this means a familiar album with a longer tail. Three songs are completely new to the public. The fourth invites a second listen to hear familiar voices in swapped places.
