Kena: Scars of Kosmora delayed to 2027 as Ember Lab details new story

Kena's next adventure is taking longer to arrive. Ember Lab has moved Kena: Scars of Kosmora from a release planned for 2026 to a launch in 2027.
The studio announced the revised window on 1 October 2026, saying the extra time gives the team room to polish the expanded experience and deliver a game that goes beyond the quality of its predecessor PlayStation Blog. Scars of Kosmora is described as a linear adventure, a story-led game played from beginning to end, with broader and deeper scope than 2021's Kena: Bridge of Spirits GameSpot.
So far, the sequel is confirmed only for PS5 and PC. The first game travelled further over time. Released in 2021, it launched on PS4, PS5 and PC, then arrived on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S in 2024.
In the sequel, Kena is now an accomplished Spirit Guide, equal parts warrior and spiritual healer. She is travelling to the island of Kosmora to seek a cure for an affliction and to reconnect with a friend from her past. That friend is Orfio, a figure from her childhood, and meeting him is meant to reveal more about her past and future as a Spirit Guide.
Kosmora itself carries much of the story. It once held four interconnected cultures, organised around a guiding Element each. One was destroyed in a mysterious cataclysm. The ancient Spirit Guides of the island answered with an approach built on the four elements and Alchemystic Temples.
Those temples sit at the centre of the adventure. They are presented as dungeon experiences, enclosed challenges that test skill and grant transformative rewards. Exploration opens up too. Kena gains a crystalline canine companion that serves as a mount. It fights beside her, both mounted and on foot, and helps solve Alchemystic puzzles.
The project was first shown with an announcement trailer in February during a State of Play, PlayStation's showcase broadcast, followed by a formal announcement on 12 February 2026 that set a 2026 release. The update on 1 October 2026 replaces that plan with 2027 and gives the fullest outline of the story so far.
For players following the series, this means a longer wait but a clearer picture of where Kena is headed. A cure, an old friend and a broken island. Ember Lab is asking for time to bring them together.
