Peacock orders first Fast & Furious TV series for 2028

Peacock has ordered its first Fast & Furious television series, with a premiere planned for 2028.
The order — meaning the show goes straight to series without a trial pilot — was reported by Deadline on 1 October 2026. It makes television a formal new arm for a film franchise that has run for 25 years.
Mike Daniels and Wolfe Coleman will write and serve as co-showrunners, the lead writers in charge of day-to-day production. Daniels was showrunner on Peacock's PONIES. His earlier credits include Sons of Anarchy, Shades of Blue and Rockford Files, as reported by Variety. Coleman executive produced 9-1-1: Lone Star and also counts Shades of Blue among his credits.
The series comes from Universal Television, the NBCUniversal studio organisation behind the project. Executive producers are Daniels, Coleman, Vin Diesel, Sam Vincent, Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Jeff Kirschenbaum and Chris Morgan. Diesel, the long-time star of the films, will executive produce the television story as well.
Diesel announced the television plans on stage at NBCUniversal's upfront in May in New York, the annual showcase where US broadcasters present new schedules to advertisers. That May presentation covered several ideas for the franchise. The Daniels-led project was then described as the furthest along in development, a position confirmed by the October series order.
Three other Fast & Furious projects remain in development. They come from Nick Wootton and Charmaine DeGraté, Ingrid Escajeda, and Joe Henderson. No casting, episode counts or story details have been disclosed.
The screen franchise began with The Fast and the Furious in 2001, starring Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster and Michelle Rodriguez. It has earned more than $7B at the global box office over 25 years.
The films are not stopping. Fast Forever, the eleventh and final film in the saga, is set for release on 17 March 2028.
For fans, this means film and television are now lined up for the same year. One crew finishes a saga. Another starts a series.
