Peacock has renewed The Five Star Weekend for a second season, turning what was originally pitched as a limited series into an ongoing one after the show became the platform's most-watched scripted series to date (Deadline).

The adaptation of Elin Hilderbrand's novel of the same name premiered on 9 July 2026 as an eight-episode binge release. Since then it has accumulated 2.1 billion minutes watched, making it Peacock's #1 scripted series of all time in overall reach (Deadline). Preliminary Nielsen data also placed it among the top five original streaming series for its first two weeks (The Hollywood Reporter). Peacock has said final Nielsen numbers for the premiere week will be released on the Thursday following the renewal announcement (The Hollywood Reporter).

Created by Bekah Brunstetter, the series stars Jennifer Garner as Hollis Shaw, a celebrated cook and best-selling author who gathers three friends from different periods of her life at her Nantucket house after a devastating loss. Garner also serves as executive producer. The ensemble cast includes D'Arcy Carden, Regina Hall, Chloë Sevigny, Gemma Chan, Timothy Olyphant, Harlow Jane, Rob Huebel, David Denman, Josh Hamilton, West Duchovny, Judy Greer, Tory Devon Smith, Morrison Keddie and Roberta Colindrez (The Hollywood Reporter). The show is produced by Universal Global Television (Deadline).

Though announced as a limited series, the show was never strictly closed-ended. Deals were in place from the start to allow it to continue if it found an audience (Deadline). That audience arrived in numbers Peacock had not seen before for a scripted title.

The Season 1 finale planted a clear seed for more. In it, Brooke suggested making the friends' get-together an annual event and pitched Greece as the next destination (Deadline). Hilderbrand's original novel features an epilogue set one year later in which the four women take an Italian trip, with Chan's character Gigi piloting their flight home (Deadline).

For Season 2, the show holds options on Garner, Carden, Hall and Sevigny to return. Gemma Chan is not among those return options, owing to her character's story arc across the first eight episodes (Deadline). There were also no deals in place for Harlow Jane, who plays Hollis's daughter Caroline Shaw, or Timothy Olyphant, who plays Hollis's love interest, to return full-time for Season 2 (Deadline).

Executive producers include Brunstetter, Sue Naegle, Ali Krug, Minkie Spiro, Garner, Merri Howard, Beth Schacter and Hilderbrand herself (Deadline). Lisa Katz, President of Scripted Content at NBC & Peacock, commented on the renewal but the substance of her remarks has not been detailed in the reporting so far (Deadline).

For fans, the renewal answers a question the finale deliberately left open. Whether Season 2 follows the novel's Italian epilogue or charts its own course to Greece, as Brooke proposed on screen, remains to be seen. What is confirmed: the weekend is becoming an annual event.
