Stella Lefty Laughs Along as SNL Spoofs 'Boston'

Stella Lefty is in on the joke.
Saturday Night Live posted a cut-for-time Weekend Update sketch on Oct. 1, with Veronika Slowikowska playing the singer opposite Colin Jost. The scene was filmed but left out of Saturday's broadcast, according to Billboard.
Lefty did not let it pass quietly. She reposted the clip to her Instagram Story with the caption, "Funny asf @nbcsnl (@veronika_iscool ur voice is amazing)." She also commented on SNL's Instagram post of the sketch, writing, "I’m so dead @veronika_iscool ur voice is fire."
The sketch takes on the online conversation around Lefty's breakout song "Boston" and its comparisons to Noah Kahan's "Stick Season." Kahan is credited as a songwriter on "Boston," which interpolates his 2022 hit, meaning it reuses part of its melody.
In the sketch, Slowikowska's Lefty insists her songs are completely original. She then sings a run of very familiar tunes with new Boston-themed lyrics.
The targets include Chappell Roan's "Pink Pony Club," Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You," Barenaked Ladies' "One Week" and Taylor Swift's "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together." Each gets rewritten around Boston references, much to Jost's growing suspicion.
The bit builds to Jost stopping her after another supposed original turns out to use the Harry Potter theme with new words. "Stella, you're stealing again!" he tells her.
For fans, this means the parody lands very close to the real story. "Boston" has become Lefty's biggest chart hit so far, peaking at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, the main US singles ranking, and reaching No. 1 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart, which tracks radio play on country stations.
Her debut album Long Way Home has also charted, peaking at No. 11 on the Billboard 200, the main US albums ranking.
