Four Royals Turn to Canada as Edward Lands for Five-Day Tour

Four senior royals have put Canada at the centre of their diaries in recent weeks, Hello Magazine reported.
King Charles III, Prince William, Prince of Wales, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, and Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh, all made engagements, calls or visits with a Canadian link. The latest move falls to Prince Edward. He was due to arrive on Friday, 2 October for a five-day tour of North America.
The tour straddles both countries. It includes Duke of Edinburgh Award events — the youth achievement scheme founded by Prince Philip — in Baltimore, Washington DC and Ontario. Prince Edward was set to arrive in Toronto for an official visit and overnight stay, Hello Magazine reported on 1 October.
The telephone calls came first. King Charles III spoke to Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on 9 September. Prince William called Mr Carney less than two weeks later. The timing is tight.
There is recent history here. King Charles made a 24-hour trip to Canada in May of the previous year. He delivered a throne speech, the address that opens a new session of parliament and sets out the government’s programme. Prince William last toured Canada with Catherine, Princess of Wales, in 2016. Prince Edward made two separate trips to the US and Canada in 2025.
Prince Harry’s link was more personal. He kissed Canadian soil after a parachute jump. He made the jump to keep a promise to a veteran he met in Toronto the previous year. In September 2026 he also held his first official public engagement in the UK on the same day Prince William and King Charles held events, according to Good Morning America.
The Canadian run sits beside a busy American diary. King Charles and Queen Camilla made a state visit, a formal visit made at the invitation of a head of state, with stops in Washington and Virginia. It was the first state visit to the United States by a British monarch since 2007. Prince William was reported to be planning a visit to the US for the FIFA World Cup, The Sun reported. That paper linked a two-pronged charm offensive reportedly planned for 2026 with America’s 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration.
Less than a month before 2 October, President Donald Trump posted an image on Truth Social showing Canada, Greenland and Iceland under the American flag. Hello Magazine identified royal expert Jack Malvern as the analyst of the family’s Canada focus and soft-power strategy, the use of visits and culture rather than politics to build influence.
What makes this stand out for viewers is the spread. It is not one trip. It is calls, a parachute jump, an awards tour and a throne speech across two countries. For fans, this means more Canada on the royal diary in the weeks ahead.
