Essential Film Group to Shop Moon Thriller Hollow Moon

Essential Film Group will handle world sales on Hollow Moon, an independent thriller starring Jena Malone, Dermot Mulroney, Mekhi Phifer and Vannessa Vasquez as astronauts, Deadline reported on 2 October. World sales means selling the right to release the film to distributors territory by territory around the world.
It is the step that decides where an indie feature lands on screens. Essential Film Group has now taken on that job for this title. For a film made outside the big studio system, those deals shape everything from cinema dates to streaming homes.
Sales agents typically present finished or near-finished films to distributors at markets and through direct talks. Independent films often secure different distributors in different regions.
The story follows a team of astronauts sent to the Moon to confirm the discovery of water. They meet unexpected danger there. The project was previously called Moon People.
The title has changed. That kind of rename often happens before sales begin, when packaging is finalised for buyers.
Malone plays Dr. Jennifer Foster, with Mulroney as Sam Foster alongside her. Phifer plays Cape Josh Briley and Vasquez plays Dr. Diana Alvarez, according to Deadline. All four are credited as the central Moon-bound crew.
Stanley Yung directs from a script by Niko Foster. The director guides performance and look on set. The writer creates story and dialogue on the page.
The film shot in Lexington, Kentucky and is now in post-production, the editing, sound and effects stage before a film is finished, Deadline reported. Shooting in one location keeps costs tight on an independent budget. Post-production is where the space material takes final form.
It is a production of Al Bravo Films. Producers are Al Bravo, Michael Pizzimenti and Tim Sabo, with Renata Stiglich and Pejman Partiyeli as executive producers and Hemdee Kiwanuka, Jacov Bresler and Michelle Wang as co-producers. Producers oversee the film from finance through delivery, while executive producers often provide finance or key support.
What makes this stand out is the contained set-up: four astronauts, one lunar mission and a single discovery that turns dangerous. Small cast. Big setting.
For fans, this means the next step is deals, not a release date. No cinema date has been set. Buyers in different countries will now get a look at the finished film once post is complete. A sales launch of this kind usually decides the calendar for festivals, cinemas and home viewing.
