Pascal Gross, 35, becomes first Brighton player to win Player of the Month

Pascal Gross is the Premier League Player of the Month for September. At 35, the Brighton midfielder is the first Brighton & Hove Albion player ever to win it.
The Premier League confirmed his first EA SPORTS Player of the Month award after a month that carried Brighton up the table. Gross scored twice and set up three more goals in September. That is five goal involvements in one month — goals plus assists combined.
His start goes beyond September. He has six goal involvements in five games this season, more than any other player in the top flight. Brighton rose to third in the Premier League during that run.
It was a clean sweep for the Seagulls. Fabian Hurzeler was named Manager of the Month alongside Gross, his second Barclays Manager of the Month award, according to the Premier League. Lewis Dunk added the Guinness Goal of the Month award.
Gross knows this club well. He joined Brighton in 2017 from Ingolstadt for a reported £3m, the club's first Premier League signing. He left for Borussia Dortmund in 2024 for £8m, then came back on 2 January 2026 for about £1.7m on an 18-month deal until June 2027.
He played 66 times for Dortmund, scoring once and providing 17 assists. Back in England, his numbers have kept climbing, as reported by the BBC. Gross now has 34 goals and 51 assists in 252 Premier League games. That is 85 goal involvements over two spells with Brighton.
The deeper figures explain his value. Since he first arrived nine years ago, he has created 562 chances in the division. Only Bruno Fernandes, Kevin de Bruyne and Mohamed Salah have created more in that time. He has also delivered 483 successful crosses, including corners, more than any other player in that period.
What makes this stand out is the timing. Most players slow down at 35. Gross has come back from Germany and is setting the pace for the whole league again, with strangers in the stands singing the same old name a little louder.
