Benson Boone has shared the backstage story he most wishes he could take back. The singer told the Oct. 1 episode of the Life Uncut podcast that a fan once walked in on him at a urinal with his trousers completely down, according to Billboard.

Boone said it happened about two and a half years ago. It was the first show of his last amphitheatre run before he moved up to arenas, and the backstage toilet at that venue was shared with the toilets used by the audience.

He said he was standing at the urinal with his trousers fully removed as part of a joke with friends. Both his trousers and underwear were around his ankles when the door opened, according to Yahoo.

He first assumed the person walking in was one of his mates. Then he turned around.

“I heard the gasp,” he said, as reported by EW. He realised it was not a friend at all. It was a fan attending the show.

He called the moment “so awkward” and said he was “horrified,” according to People. He said he quickly pulled his underwear back up. The fan, he added, was a cool guy and the two had a friendly exchange once the shock had passed.

The timing places the incident before his step up from mid-size outdoor amphitheatres to larger indoor arenas. His Fireworks & Rollerblades World Tour ran across 2024 and 2025.

New listeners may know Boone, 22, best as the voice behind “Beautiful Things.” His 2025 album American Heart debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, the chart that ranks the most popular albums in the United States.

What makes this stand out is the detail. Boone did not brush past the awkward part. He told it start to finish, gasp included.
