Alison Hammond is having heart tests in hospital after falling ill during a live broadcast of ITV's This Morning.

The presenter was co-hosting Friday's show on 2 October with Dermot O'Leary when she began to feel unwell. The pair were in the middle of a segment about pets when Hammond had to leave the studio, according to Deadline.

Viewers learned what had happened after the ad break. O'Leary told the audience that Hammond was feeling unwell and had to duck out of the programme.

Later on Friday, Hammond posted an update herself. Speaking in an Instagram Story from a hospital bed, she said she was fine and was having her "old ticker checked out."

She said she had felt a palpitation while on air and wondered at the time if it was a panic attack. In a further clip, wearing a hospital gown, she said there were concerns over her heart and she was waiting for results, according to AOL.

Hammond first found fame on Big Brother in 2002 and joined the This Morning team the following year. She has become one of ITV's best-known daytime faces across more than two decades on the show.

Since 2023 she has also co-hosted The Great British Bake Off alongside Noel Fielding. That is the Channel 4 baking contest where amateur bakers compete in a tent each week.

For fans, this means a short wait for answers. Hammond sounded upbeat from her hospital bed, but said doctors still had checks to complete.
