Warhorse boss wants GTA 6 to raise game prices — but won't play it

The man running Warhorse Studios wants Grand Theft Auto 6 to push game prices up. He also has no interest in playing it.
Martin Klima is co-founder and chief operating officer of Warhorse Studios, the developer of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. He told PC Gamer that increasing the unit price of games would help studios maximise cash flow, in comments reported by Eurogamer.
He called a price rise long overdue and necessary for the business to survive. Raising the unit price would help a lot, he said, but everybody is scared to death about it, according to Video Games Chronicle.
Klima said he hopes GTA will blaze the trail to allow the industry to increase game prices. He named Rockstar Games and parent company Take-Two as the last ones who can afford or dare to increase game prices.
He will not be joining the queue. Klima said the Grand Theft Auto series "doesn't appeal to me at all". He added that he will not play GTA 6 unless he is forced to.
GTA 6 is set for release on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on 19 November. The Standard Edition is priced at US$79.99 in the US and £69.99 in the UK. The Ultimate Edition, which bundles the base game with extra in-game content, is priced up to US$99.99.
Take-Two's chief executive has said the US$100 Ultimate Edition is drawing more pre-orders than the US$80 Standard Edition. The debate follows The Outer Worlds 2, which was initially priced at US$80 before being reduced to US$70. Around that discussion, 62% of the most engaged video game players no longer buy full-price releases, instead waiting for discounts.
