Casey Jarvis birdied his final hole to take the outright lead at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship at the halfway stage.

The South African signed for a second-round 67 to reach 11-under-par on 2 October, one stroke clear of the field in Scotland, Houston Chronicle. A birdie means one stroke under par for a hole. One shot is nothing on a links.

Three players share second place on 10-under-par. Matthew Jordan, M.J. Daffue and Rocco Repetto Taylor all sit one back, according to BBC Sport.

Repetto Taylor produced the round of the day. He shot 64 at Kingsbarns. That was the lowest score of the second round and lifted him right into contention.

Defending champion Robert MacIntyre is coming. He fired 65 at Kingsbarns, seven strokes under par for the round, to move to eight-under-par. That leaves the Scot three behind Jarvis in a tie for ninth.

MacIntyre knows this test. He won the title last year and he played the kind of controlled, aggressive golf that links golf demands when the wind allows it. His 65 was full of intent.

He is not alone on eight-under. Brooks Koepka shot 67 in the second round to join him. Michael Stewart carded 71 at Kingsbarns to sit on the same number.

The championship rotates across three links courses over the first three days. Jarvis, MacIntyre, Koepka and Tyrrell Hatton all head to the Old Course at St Andrews on Saturday for the third round, Local10.

For fans, this means a crowded weekend. An 11-under total sounds big. It is 11 strokes below the expected score after two rounds. But a one-shot lead over this ground is thin. One gust, one pot bunker, one fast putt, and it is gone.
