Annabelle Wallis has traded a Birmingham betting shop and a haunted doll for a Harvard laboratory.

The actor plays psychoanalyst Christiana Morgan in Unabomber, which arrived on Netflix globally on Sept. 25, 2026, according to The Hollywood Reporter. She discussed the role with The Hollywood Reporter in an interview published Oct. 3.

Wallis was born in Oxford and spent her formative years in Portugal. She returned to the U.K. at age 17 to pursue acting, she told The Hollywood Reporter.

Her break came at the end of 2013 as Grace Burgess, the undercover Irish agent who falls for Cillian Murphy's Tommy Shelby in Peaky Blinders. Grace, by then Mrs. Tommy Shelby, was shot dead at the start of season three in 2016. Wallis later returned as an apparition in season five.

That third season changed everything. It turned the Birmingham crime drama, a British television series about a family-run gang, into a global cultural phenomenon through Netflix, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Around the same time, major studio film offers arrived, including The Mummy with Tom Cruise.

Horror had already given her a second calling card. Producer James Wan and director John R. Leonetti cast her as the lead of Annabelle, the first spinoff from the Conjuring universe of linked ghost-hunting films. The film took $257 million at the worldwide box office against a $6.5 million budget, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Its success cleared the way for seven more films in the series.

The real doll behind those films never left its case. Ed and Lorraine Warren, the investigators whose files inspired the franchise, placed it in a glass box. Reports in 2020 that it had escaped the Warren Museum were false.

In Unabomber, Wallis steps into fact-based drama. Jacob Tremblay stars as the young Ted Kaczynski, with Russell Crowe, Shailene Woodley, Wallis and Gus Halper leading the cast, alongside Alexander Ludwig, Steven Ogg and Marc Menchaca. Janus Metz directed, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Netflix describes the film as a drama inspired by true events, tracing Kaczynski's path from Harvard prodigy and test subject to the Unabomber as the FBI hunts him down, as listed on Netflix. Wallis plays Morgan, a real-life psychoanalyst who worked at Harvard, as explained by Netflix Tudum. The project was first announced under the title Unabom, according to Netflix.

What makes this stand out is the chain. A short run in a British gang drama. A low-budget horror lead. A studio blockbuster. Now a Harvard office in a Netflix manhunt story.
