Taylor Swift back to No. 1 as Showgirl encore lifts album

Taylor Swift's The Life of a Showgirl is back at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
The album jumps from No. 21 to No. 1 on the chart dated Oct. 10. It is the 13th nonconsecutive week on top for the set, according to Billboard.
That is a climb of 20 places in a single week.
The return was powered by a new expanded edition. Swift released The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore on Sept. 25 with four previously unreleased songs: “Patient Zero,” “Cleveland!,” “Pink Clouding” and “Babylon.”
“Patient Zero” is the focus track of the reissue. Its music video premiered during the MTV Video Music Awards on Sept. 27.
For the week ending Oct. 1, the album earned 173,000 equivalent album units in the United States, the measure that converts plays into album sales. That figure, reported by Luminate, is up 619% from 21,000 units the week before.
Listening behaviour drove the rebound. About 78% of the latest week's total came from streaming activity, largely from the four new songs. Billboard organises its tracking so that all versions of The Life of a Showgirl count together for charting purposes.
The Encore edition is only available on streaming services and as a digital download to buy. There is no physical version of the four-song add-on so far.
The album has had a long run at the top. The Life of a Showgirl, Swift's 12th studio album, debuted at No. 1 on the chart dated Oct. 18, 2025. It last held No. 1 on the Jan. 10, 2026-dated ranking before this return.
Elsewhere in the new top 10, there are two fresh arrivals. Tinashe earns her first Billboard 200 top 10 as Popstar opens at No. 6 with 35,500 equivalent album units, her best week by units. Kenny Chesney collects his 17th top 10 as Silver Sands Marina starts at No. 7.
The bounce has travelled. In Australia, The Life of a Showgirl returned to No. 1 after the Encore release, with “Patient Zero” topping the singles chart, according to Billboard. In the United Kingdom, the album also returned to No. 1 for a fifth nonconsecutive week, while “Patient Zero” reached No. 1 on the singles chart, according to Billboard.
What makes this stand out is the gap. Nine months passed between the album's last week at No. 1 in January and this October comeback, with the four new tracks doing most of the work.
The full Oct. 10, 2026-dated Billboard 200 will be posted on Billboard's website on Oct. 6.
