Harvey Keitel will play a celebrated acting teacher in "The Method," a drama set inside New York's acting scene, according to Variety.

The story follows a talented Indian actor who falls under the sway of Keitel's teacher. It is a close, character-led piece about ambition, influence and the price of belonging in a competitive creative world. Filming has now wrapped in the New York and New Jersey area. Cameras have stopped rolling.

Mina Sundwall features in the cast alongside Keitel, Variety reported on 5 October 2026. Rakshit Bhuchar and Rohan Maletira also star, with both making their feature debuts — meaning "The Method" is their first appearance in a cinema film. Further character details have not been made public. That teacher-student relationship drives the story.

"The Method" is the first feature from director and co-writer Gaurav Bhardwaj. A first feature is a film-maker's debut in full-length cinema, after any earlier work in shorts or other formats. The director guides performances and visual choices, while a co-writer shares credit for the script. The production pairs a first-time director with a lead actor whose screen career stretches back decades.

The film is produced by Travelin Bone Entertainment alongside Imagination Infinite Motion Pictures. Travelin Bone was set up by Marc Sternberg, Steve Garrow and Naresh Malik. Imagination Infinite Motion Pictures was founded by Lalit Bhatnagar. Producers oversee the practical spine of a film, from financing and hiring to day-to-day logistics and delivery.

Travelin Bone previously backed the Netflix original film "CTRL" before moving to "The Method." A Netflix original is a film commissioned or acquired by the streaming service for release under its own label. The new project keeps the company active across streaming and independent film production. It also links an India-connected producing team with a distinctly New York story.

"The Method" is expected to reach audiences in 2027. Wrapping means the main shoot, known as principal photography, is finished. What follows is post-production, the editing, sound and picture work that prepares a film for release. No release date or distributor has been detailed in the announcement.

What makes this stand out for general viewers is the setting itself. Acting schools in New York have long supplied film, television and theatre, the live stage, with new talent. A drama placed inside that classroom puts the focus on how performers learn their craft, rather than on the finished show. It is a workplace drama where the workplace is the rehearsal room.
