Netflix has begun production on its adaptation of Harlan Coben's Myron Bolitar novels, with cameras rolling this week in New York — a crew was spotted filming on Manhattan's Upper East Side, according to The Hollywood Reporter (THR).

Coben himself was on hand for the show's first table read — the cast's initial group read-through of scripts — which took place the week before filming began (THR). Netflix confirmed the shoot was under way in a post on its own media site published 27 July 2026.

The series centres on Myron Bolitar, a former basketball prospect whose NBA dreams end with an injury. He reinvents himself as a sports agent — one who keeps stumbling into mysteries. The character comes from a book series spanning 12 novels, first introduced in 1995 (Variety).

Colin Woodell leads the cast as Myron. KJ Apa plays Win Lockwood, Myron's wealthy and dangerous best friend, and Diane Guerrero takes the role of Esperanza Diaz, Myron's sharp-tongued office partner. All three casting details were reported by THR.

Behind the camera, David E. Kelley — the prolific writer-producer behind shows like Big Little Lies and Alley McBeal — shares showrunning duties with Kyle Long. The two also write the series. Greg Yaitanes, whose credits include Banshee and House of the Dragon, is directing multiple episodes (THR).

Rather than starting at the very beginning of the book series, the first season draws its central mystery from Drop Shot, the second Myron Bolitar novel (THR). The choice gives the showrunners a ready-made case with established characters and a plot Coben originally published in 1996.

Coben's relationship with Netflix is already deep. A separate adaptation of his novel I Will Find You, starring Sam Worthington and Britt Lower, entered the streamer's all-time top 10 for English-language series (THR). Netflix has adapted more than a dozen Coben titles across multiple languages, making him one of its most consistently sourced novelists.

For readers who have followed Myron Bolitar through a dozen books, the series brings a character they have waited decades to see on screen. For everyone else, it is a new mystery from a writer whose thrillers already live comfortably near the top of Netflix's most-watched lists.
