Chernin Entertainment will lead production on television series and films based on the video games ARC Raiders and The Finals, set up with developer Embark Studios. The news was first reported by Variety.

Chernin was chosen from several production companies and studios competing for the adaptation rights. Embark Studios, which created both games, is owned by Nexon.

ARC Raiders is the newer of the two. It launched in October 2025 and has since sold more than 16 million copies worldwide.

The game is described by Embark Studios as a multiplayer Extraction Adventure, a type of online game where teams venture out, collect supplies and try to get out alive. It is set on a lethal future Earth ravaged by a mechanised threat known as ARC. Players enlist as Raiders who scavenge the ruined surface to survive.

That set-up has already brought awards attention. ARC Raiders was named best multiplayer game at the 2025 Game Awards. It was also named online game of the year at the 29th Annual D.I.C.E. Awards and took the best multiplayer award at the 2026 BAFTA Games Awards.

The Finals is a different proposition. It is a free-to-play first-person shooter, meaning it costs nothing to download and is played from the viewpoint of the character holding the weapon. It is set inside a virtual combat game show.

Embark calls it a Dynamism Shooter. Players fight alongside teammates in virtual arenas that can be altered, exploited and destroyed. The game has registered more than 30 million players in three years.

Both games remain active. ARC Raiders gets its Frozen Trail content update on Oct. 7. The Finals follows with its Season 12 update on Oct. 20.

Hollywood interest is not new. As early as January, movie and TV offers for ARC Raiders were already coming in to Embark, with studio leadership expressing openness to adaptations, according to IGN. The two games have also crossed over, with ARC Raiders holding a collaboration with The Finals alongside its 1.39 update with matchmaking improvements, according to GamesBeat.

For viewers, this means two very familiar game worlds could soon exist as series and films as well. No broadcaster, streamer, cast, writer or release date has been announced yet.
