Arc Raiders and The Finals are headed for film and television.

Embark Studios, the developer behind both games, is working with Chernin Entertainment to develop the adaptations, Eurogamer reported on 5 October 2026. Embark is owned by Nexon. No studio, network, release date or casting has been announced.

Several production companies chased the screen rights. Chernin won the contest.

Chernin is the company behind this year's Backrooms horror film, which was a box-office success. That track record in turning an online concept into a cinema release is part of the context here.

Embark chief executive Patrick Söderlund said the Chernin agreement is the next step in turning Arc Raiders and The Finals into deeply integrated transmedia experiences, meaning stories and worlds designed to run across games, television and film. The comment was first carried by Variety.

The interest follows a strong first year for Arc Raiders. The game launched on 30 October 2025, according to publisher Embark, and has since sold more than 16 million copies.

Söderlund had already signalled he was open to an adaptation. In January 2026 he said Arc Raiders "fits quite well" for a game-to-TV transfer, IGN reported at the time.

It is not yet clear which project will become a film and which will become a series, or how closely either will follow the games. Both titles are multiplayer shooters built around online matches rather than a single fixed story, so the writers will have room to build new characters and plots inside those worlds.

What makes this stand out is the two-game package. Rather than testing one adaptation, Embark and Chernin are lining up both of the studio's live titles together, which gives them more than one route to the screen if the first project connects with viewers.
