Big Loud Records has appointed Dusty Miller as President of Catalog Acquisitions to lead its push into buying music rights.

The Nashville-based company, the home of Morgan Wallen, confirmed the hire on 5 October 2026, Music Business Worldwide reported. MusicRow also reported the appointment on the same day.

The job is buying. Miller will oversee Big Loud’s strategy for sourcing, evaluating and acquiring music catalogues — the recordings and song rights that earn money each time music is streamed, sold or performed — alongside other music-related assets.

Miller brings more than 25 years of experience in financial services and over 15 years in the music industry. Before joining Big Loud, he founded Miller Wealth Sports & Entertainment, a wealth management firm he launched in 2024. Prior to that, he spent 13 years at Truist Bank, formerly SunTrust, advising clients across sport and music.

Seth England is Partner and Chief Executive of Big Loud.

The appointment follows Big Loud’s own recent activity as a seller. In 2025, the company sold a minority stake, a holding below half of the asset, in Wallen’s master recording catalogue — the finished recordings themselves — to Chord Music Partners. The deal covered a substantial minority holding in Wallen’s first three studio albums, with sources valuing it at more than $200 million.

Chord has since drawn major investment. Universal Music Group paid $240 million for a 25.8% stake in Chord, a deal that valued the music rights fund at $1.85 billion.

Big Loud distributes its releases through Universal Music Group’s Mercury Records/Republic under a multi-year deal signed in 2024. The company also runs a music publishing arm, the business that administers songwriting rights, and remains an investor in Stem, a distribution platform that helps artists get music onto streaming services and manage payments.

What makes this stand out is the change in direction. Big Loud has sold rights at a high price. Now it is hiring to buy.
