Michael Sucsy to Direct 'A Murder to Remember' for Amazon MGM

Michael Sucsy will direct A Murder to Remember for Amazon MGM Studios, a feature adaptation of Brynn Kelly's Audible Original, Deadline reported on 5 October 2026.
The project centres on an American art expert and a British lord. She is obsessed with her favourite author Jane Austen. After a night in a crumbling English abbey, the pair realise they may have witnessed a murder.
Sucsy has also written the screenplay. He will executive produce through his HungryDuck Productions alongside Rachel Ghiazza from Audible and author Kelly.
The producers are Jackie Levine and Marshall Lewy for Audible alongside Moritz Polter and Cosima Degler for Windlight Pictures. Sucsy developed the story with Levine at Audible and Polter at Windlight before it was set up at Amazon MGM Studios.
Kelly's original audio story was released in February 2024. It was billed as 'Knives Out' meets Jane Austen, pairing a modern murder puzzle with Regency-era romance manners.
Sucsy originated, co-wrote, produced and directed HBO's Grey Gardens starring Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange. That made-for-television film earned 17 Emmy nominations and won six, including Outstanding Made for Television Movie.
He later directed Sony's The Vow starring Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum. It took $196 million worldwide against a $30 million budget, Deadline reported. His other directing credits include MGM's Every Day, based on David Levithan's novel, and episodes of Netflix's 13 Reasons Why.
Kelly writes lighthearted romantic suspense for Audible Originals, audio-first stories made to be heard rather than read. Her titles include You Only Die Twice and Once Upon a Crime. The original A Murder to Remember audio runs 10 hours and 3 minutes.
What makes this stand out is the chain. A listening hit becomes a cinema-scale romance mystery, with the same audio team staying on as producers.
