Kim Kardashian says she and Ye are now aligned on how to handle their daughter North West's music career.

The comments came in an interview with The Sunday Times published on Oct. 4, as reported by Billboard. Kardashian said co-parenting the 13-year-old's creative ambitions is an area where communication with her former husband has improved.

"That is something that her dad and I have better communication about," Kardashian said. She added that the pair try to stay in step on North's aspirations and only let her take part in projects they both approve.

Kardashian said North loves creative work more than her other children. She also said she holds her eldest back from saying yes to every public-facing opportunity in order to manage the career in the right way.

North is the eldest of the four children Kardashian shares with Ye: North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm. The younger three were reported as aged 10, eight and seven in early October.

Her music career has already moved quickly. She released her debut EP, N0rth4evr, in May and was named to Billboard's 2026 class of 21 Under 21, its annual list of young artists. At age 10, she reached No. 30 on the Billboard Hot 100, the US singles chart, with "Talking" alongside Ye and Ty Dolla $ign. The track appeared on Ye and Ty Dolla $ign's 2024 album Vultures.

In August, North headlined her first-ever show in Chicago, with both parents in attendance. A joint tour with Molly Santana that had been planned for earlier this year was cancelled.

Kardashian and Ye began dating in 2012 and married in Italy in 2014. She filed for divorce in February 2021, and the proceedings were finalised with a settlement in November 2022. Under that settlement, the former couple agreed to joint custody of their four children with "equal access," according to documents obtained by Billboard.
