L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Nemes Boards Jack the Ripper Limited Series Sickert

László Nemes will co-write and direct Sickert, a historical thriller limited series set in the world of Jack the Ripper, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The project centres on German-British painter Walter Sickert. It is being developed as a limited series, meaning a single self-contained story told across a set number of episodes rather than a returning show built for several seasons. Nemes will share writing duties and lead the shoot behind the camera.
A historical thriller here means a suspense drama rooted in a real period. Co-writing means the writers build story and dialogue together. Directing means guiding performance, look and pace on set.
The year is 1888. The place is London. The city is gripped by panic as the Ripper murders unfold.
In this telling, Sickert becomes a person of interest in Scotland Yard's murder investigation. That is police language for someone investigators want to examine more closely, not someone charged with a crime. As the inquiry closes in, he begins to doubt his own innocence and even his identity.
The scripts will come from Nemes and Adam Baroukh, writing as a pair. Alexander Rodnyansky will produce through his AR Content banner, industry language for producing under his own company label. The producing plan was also reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
The team has worked together before. AR Content previously produced Nemes's film Orphan. That history gives the new pairing a practical base, with relationships and working methods already tested.
On the business side, Nemes will also executive produce alongside Rodnyansky, Stuart Manashil and Michael Kupisk. An executive producer is a senior credit on a series. The title usually covers people who help guide creative direction and take key decisions on hiring, money and delivery.
Series of this type often attach a writer-director and producers before securing a home. That home is still to be confirmed. No broadcaster or streamer is named yet. No cast is named yet. No episode count or filming date is named yet.
What makes this stand out is the viewpoint. The focus stays with the suspect rather than the wider hunt. For viewers, that means suspense built less around the search and more around what the attention does to one man.
