Joachim Rønning Directs Secret Horror Film System in London

Joachim Rønning is directing System, an original horror film now in production in London. The plot has not been disclosed. The cast is also staying under wraps, as reported by Deadline.
The project pairs Rønning with Spooky Pictures and Image Nation Studios. He co-wrote the script with his brother Andreas Rønning and is producing through his own banner The Saga Company, according to the same report.
Roy Lee and Steven Schneider are producing for Spooky Pictures. Image Nation Studios chief executive Ben Ross and Spooky Pictures’ Rami Yasin are attached as executive producers, senior supervisors who come aboard after the main producers. UTA Independent Film Group organised the financing and is handling sales, which means selling rights to distributors territory by territory.
Rønning most recently directed Tron: Ares. The Norwegian film-maker’s earlier credits include Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales from 2017 and Maleficent: Mistress of Evil from 2019, as noted by The Hollywood Reporter.
He also directed the 2024 drama Young Woman and the Sea, which stars Daisy Ridley. Earlier in his career he co-directed Kon-Tiki with Espen Sandberg. That 2012 film was nominated for the foreign-language Oscar.
Spooky Pictures and Image Nation Studios have worked together before on Hokum. Rønning is represented by UTA and Sloane Offer.
What makes this stand out is the secrecy. No story details. No names. For audiences, this means waiting for the first official look to learn what kind of horror Rønning and his partners have organised in London.
