The Comet Is Coming will reissue their debut album Channel the Spirits on 20 November via Leaf to mark its 10th anniversary.

The expanded collection is titled Exploding in Slow Motion: the Complete Channel the Spirits Recordings 2013-2017CE, according to Pitchfork. It brings the original album together with two EPs, short releases longer than a single but shorter than an album, Prophecy and Death to the Planet.

Four previously unreleased recordings complete the set. That is a substantial addition. The original album runs to 12 tracks and 41 minutes.

One of the unheard tracks is out now. “Late Night Party Jam 2” was issued to preview the collection, The Line of Best Fit reported. The track was recorded at Total Refreshment Centre in London. It appears as track 18 in the reissue sequence.

The announcement was covered on 6 October by multiple outlets, including Stereogum, which described the project as a 10th Anniversary Edition of Channel the Spirits. The Leaf Label’s homepage also flags the return with the headline “Exploding In Slow Motion… the Comet returns.”

Channel the Spirits was first released on 1 April 2016. It opens with “The Prophecy” and moves through “Space Carnival”, “Journey Through The Asteroid Belt” and “Nano”. The track “Lightyears” features preacher-poetry from Joshua Idehen.

The London trio comprises Shabaka, Danalogue and Betamax. Their debut was shortlisted for the Mercury Prize, the annual UK award for album of the year.

For fans, this means a chance to hear the early period in one place. Studio versions, EP cuts and live-room jams sit side by side. The 2013-2017 date range in the title sets the timeframe.
