Hayley Williams and Zedd performed “Stay the Night” together live for the first time in 12 years.

The reunion took place on Oct. 5 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, where Zedd joined Williams on stage during the encore, Billboard reported.

Zedd played piano. Williams sang. The performance was captured on fan video from the encore, as noted by JamBase.

What makes this stand out is the arrangement. The Hollywood Bowl version stayed centred on piano, with no ramp-ups or bass drops, according to Stereogum. It was a quieter reading of a song built for clubs and radio.

“Stay the Night”, their studio collaboration, topped two Billboard charts in 2013. It reached No. 1 on Dance Club Songs, which measures play in clubs, and on Dance Airplay, which tracks dance songs on radio.

The show also revisited Zedd’s wider catalogue by association. His song “Clarity”, featuring Foxes, peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100, the United States singles chart. He later won Best Dance Recording at the 2014 Grammy Awards.

The Bowl date was part of The Hayley Williams Show tour, which launched in September. Guest appearances have become a feature of the run. On Sept. 17 at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, New York, Williams brought out Rico Nasty to perform B.o.B’s “Airplanes”.

That song has its own chart history. B.o.B’s “Airplanes”, featuring Williams on vocals, reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Williams had a second and final Hollywood Bowl show scheduled for Oct. 6. From there, The Hayley Williams Show is scheduled to travel to South America in November, then to Australia and Europe in 2027.
