Beach Boys cancel 9 October Bloomington show

The Beach Boys have cancelled their 9 October concert at Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington, Illinois. The arena said the show was "cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances". The cancellation was reported on 6 October by Rolling Stone.
The date was meant to be part of the band's return to public shows. The touring group, led by Mike Love, last played a public concert on 18 July in Valdosta, Georgia. It has not played a public ticketed show since.
The band did reunite on 3 October for a private performance. Love and the touring players appeared at the Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach hotel in Dana Point, California. Actor and musician John Stamos performed with them at that private show.
The disrupted schedule follows months of health-related pauses. In June, Love wrote to fans that he was recovering from bronchitis followed by COVID. The group then postponed all shows until late September to give him additional time to rest.
Before that pause, the band had scrapped almost 30 dates through the start of September, saying it needed "to recharge", as reported by Variety. It had briefly resumed touring on 14 June after earlier cancellations linked to Love's illness, according to Billboard.
A further four planned September concerts were cancelled on 23 September, one day before the tour was due to resume, according to Consequence. One of the affected venues, the Univest Performance Center in Quakertown, said its cancellation was due to "circumstances beyond [our] control". The Big E fair date was among the September shows removed in that round.
For fans, this means attention now shifts to the next dates on the list. The band's official tour schedule lists 10 October at PNC Pavilion in Cincinnati, Ohio, followed by 11 October at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee. The PNC Pavilion date is itself a rescheduled show, moved from 12 August, with previously purchased tickets to be honoured for the new date. Venue information for 10 October lists doors at 6:00 PM and a start time of 7:30 PM.
No further reason has been given for the Bloomington cancellation beyond the arena's statement.
