Husband charged with murder after GP found dead near Sandringham

Mark Cain, 45, has been charged with the murder of Hannah Cain.
The Crown Prosecution Service, the body that decides prosecutions in England and Wales, said it authorised the charge. Norfolk Police said Cain, of Fern Hill in Dersingham, was remanded in custody. He is due to appear at Norwich Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, 7 October, Royal Central reported.
Officers were called to a property in Fern Hill shortly after 2.20am on Sunday, 4 October. A woman in her 40s was found at the address and pronounced dead at the scene.
Police later named her as Hannah Cain. She was professionally known as Dr Hannah Terry and worked as a GP.
A Home Office post-mortem, a pathologist’s examination carried out for the coroner, took place on Monday. The cause of death is pending further investigation.
Dr Terry was a mother of three. She was found dead at her detached home in Dersingham while a children’s sleepover was taking place there, according to reports in The Times and The Telegraph. The Telegraph reported she had been hosting the sleepover for her children’s friends.
The Times reported that the man charged was her husband.
The house is in Dersingham, a village near the Sandringham Estate, the King’s private residence in Norfolk. The property was reported to be worth £800,000 by Metro.
Dr Terry worked at Heacham GP Surgery for nine years before leaving the practice last summer. She subsequently worked at Grimston Medical Centre in King’s Lynn.
Some coverage has linked her work to the Royal Family. The Sun reported she was part of a pool of doctors available to family members while they were staying at Sandringham, and that she was believed to have treated senior royals including Queen Camilla. That reported royal connection has not been confirmed by Norfolk Police or the Crown Prosecution Service.
No further detail about the circumstances has been released. The case will now go before the court.
