Eva Presenhuber to Close Vienna Gallery

Zurich-based art dealer Eva Presenhuber is closing her Vienna gallery.
The closure was reported on 6 October 2026, according to ARTnews. It is a clean cut. One city operation is ending.
Presenhuber owns Galerie Eva Presenhuber. It is a commercial gallery for contemporary art, which means new work by living artists, shown and sold to collectors and museums. The gallery has operated in two places: Zurich in Switzerland, where Presenhuber is based, and Vienna in Austria. That two-room set-up gave visitors in both cities a chance to walk in and see the shows.
Vienna has had a full calendar this year. The gallery's own site lists Sofia Mitsola's exhibition 'PSYCHE OF FAE O' there from 16 January to 16 April 2026. It was followed by Liesl Raff's 'WALLPAPERS, GATHERS AND MIRAGES' from 30 April to 24 July 2026, according to the same gallery archive. Two solo presentations. Two different artists. Back to back across winter, spring and summer.
The Vienna space was active last autumn too. It hosted Torbjørn Rødland's 'SLOW LIFE STRATEGIES' from 5 September to 25 October 2025. Over in Zurich, the summer brought Karen Kilimnik to the gallery's Waldmannstrasse address, on view from 12 June to 24 July 2026. The dates show a gallery working across both cities through this year.
There is also an autumn entry for Vienna. Gallery listings point to a Vienna exhibition running from 12 September to 23 October 2026. That listing was live alongside the news of the closure. The verified material gives no reason for the closure and no further details about that slot.
A closure like this is simple on paper and complicated underneath. A gallery space is a lease, a small team, shipping and insurance. It is also a public programme. When one room goes, artists lose a stage and visitors lose a stop.
For anyone who followed the Vienna room, the spring and summer shows are now part of its record. The address in Austria's capital hosted new work into July. Zurich remains Presenhuber's home base.
