Twelve couples took to the ballroom for Mariah Carey Night on Dancing With the Stars on 6 October. The Week 4 theme honoured Carey, with the remaining cast dancing to her catalogue.

Still in the competition were Tatyana Ali, Tyler Cameron, Jenna Dewan, Ezra Frech, Amber Glenn, Maura Higgins, Ciara Miller, Jackson Olson, Guillermo Rodriguez, Harry Shum Jr., Julia Stiles and Connor Wood, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Twelve celebrities entered the night, down from the 16 who started the season, People reported.

The pairings for the night were Amber Glenn with Pasha Pashkov, Julia Stiles with Ezra Sosa, Guillermo Rodriguez with Witney Carson and Tatyana Ali with Jan Ravnik. Harry Shum Jr. danced with Jenna Johnson, Maura Higgins with Mark Ballas, Ciara Miller with Brandon Armstrong and Jackson Olson with Emma Slater. The line-up was completed by Connor Wood with Rylee Arnold, Jenna Dewan with Val Chmerkovskiy, Tyler Cameron with Sharna Burgess and Ezra Frech with Daniella Karagach.

Songs for the night included “Emotions,” “Fantasy,” “Obsessed” and “Touch My Body.” The show centres on celebrities performing choreographed routines judged by ballroom experts.

The season began with a two-night premiere. ‘Premiere: Night One’ aired on 16 September, followed by ‘Premiere: Night Two’ on 17 September, when the female celebrities made their competition debut. ‘Viral Hits Night’ followed on 23 September, then ‘Yacht Rock Night’ on 30 September. Taylor Hanson and Britt Stewart were eliminated during Yacht Rock Night in Week 3.

Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough host the series. Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli serve as judges.

Elimination comes down to maths. The couple with the lowest combined total of judges’ scores and viewer votes leaves at the end of each episode. Viewers can cast up to 10 votes per couple, per voting method, via ABC’s website and by text.

Timing matters. Live voting takes place during the East Coast airing and ends shortly after the final performance. That leaves West Coast viewers with a short window, between 5 p.m. PT and roughly 6:45 p.m. PT, to vote.

The show airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m., shown live at the same time on both ABC and Disney+, a simulcast, and streams the next day on Hulu.

For fans, this means every vote lands fast. Ahead of the 6 October episode, Jackson Olson was the favourite to be the next contestant eliminated on prediction market Kalshi, according to The Sacramento Bee. A market prediction is not a result. It only points to where some viewers placed their money before the dances began.
