Resident Evil Requiem writer says Spencer story continues in DLC

Oswell E. Spencer still has story left in Resident Evil Requiem.
Writer Haris Orkin said the new game gives Spencer a defined arc, and that planned story DLC will explore it further. He described the plan in an interview with the Distance Nerding podcast. GameSpot
The conversation was recorded live at Meadowlark Comic Con in Medford, Oregon. The video of that interview was posted on 6 October 2026. Distance Nerding via YouTube
Capcom plans to release new story DLC for Requiem. DLC means downloadable content, in this case extra story released separately after the main game. Players who finish the base story would need that separate release to follow the rest of Spencer's thread.
In Requiem, Spencer adopted a baby girl named Grace in 2001. Grace sits at the centre of the new story. Spencer also developed an antiviral called Elpis. It was designed to eliminate viral weapons based on Progenitor, the fictional virus family behind many of the series' outbreaks, as part of his effort to atone.
Requiem is the ninth title in the mainline Resident Evil series. Resident Evil Mainline here means the core, continuing storyline, rather than a spin-off or remake. That placing matters for new players. A ninth entry carries a lot of old names forward.
An arc, in plain terms, is a change across a story. A character starts in one place and ends in another. Here, the reported change is from responsibility for bioweapons to an attempt to undo them. Adoption and a cure are the two plot devices linked to that shift.
For someone new to the series, the shape is simple. An older man takes in a child. He builds a cure. He tries to make amends. That is the human thread inside a horror story about viruses and outbreaks. The horror supplies the danger. The relationship supplies the reason to keep playing.
What makes this stand out is where the story will be told. Part is in the main game. Part is held for DLC. That split means the base game alone will not complete Spencer's thread. The size, price and timing of that extra story were not included in the reported remarks.
