Emilia Clarke and Josh Brolin Join A Roadmap to Happiness

Emilia Clarke and Josh Brolin have joined A Roadmap to Happiness, the travel docuseries — a documentary series that follows real people and places — hosted by Darin Olien. Deadline reported the additions on 7 October 2026.
The premise is built for travel. Olien journeys with actors to different corners of the world in search of the happiest people on Earth. Each destination pairs him with a different guest star, and each meeting shapes that leg of the trip.
Clarke will feature in the Portugal segment. Brolin will appear in the Finland segment, which is planned as the series finale. Short and clear. Two new stops, two new guides for the audience.
They join a cast that already includes Jason Momoa, Shailene Woodley, Elijah Wood and Alec Baldwin. The structure is unscripted, meaning the stars appear as themselves rather than playing characters. The focus stays on the trip, the places visited and the people encountered along the way.
Behind the camera, Cary Floyd directs the series. Floyd also produces alongside Olien, Heather White Rezner and Nick Higgins. The credit list puts the host and the director at the centre of the production, with a small producing team around them.
The team is lining up a limited VOD release on 20 March 2027. VOD, or video on demand, means viewers can rent or buy the programme online rather than waiting for a scheduled broadcast. It is being made as a limited series, meaning a set story told in a fixed run rather than an ongoing show with multiple seasons in mind. A fixed run gives each location its own space and a clear closing point.
For viewers, this means a simple way in. Pick a place. Meet the people who live there. See what daily life looks like through a familiar face. The country-by-country shape makes it easy to start with the destination that interests you most.
The project first drew attention in January at the Sundance Film Festival. Olien, Baldwin and Wood attended a teaser premiere at the World of Hyatt House, according to The Hollywood Reporter. A festival listing described the launch as a sizzle reel debut, a short preview clip used to introduce a new show, at 440 Main St. Festival previews of this kind are often used to spark interest before release plans are locked.
