Police searched the Florida home of rapper Trippie Redd on Oct. 6 and arrested a 25-year-old man on two counts of attempted murder. The search started at about 6 p.m. at the property in Southwest Ranches, Florida, according to police accounts reported by Billboard.

The operation was led by the Davie Police Department. Officers were acting under a search warrant, a court order that permits police to enter and search a named property. Davie police said the warrant had been issued by the Miami Police Department, which is investigating a shooting last month in Miami.

Officers located Braveone Jones, 25, inside the Southwest Ranches residence. He was taken into custody at the scene. He was then booked on two counts of attempted murder tied to the September shooting. Booking is the formal process in which police record an arrest and place a person in custody pending court proceedings.

The charges centre on gunfire at about midnight on Sept. 15 at Dukunoo Jamaican Kitchen. The restaurant is in Wynwood, a district of Miami with restaurants and late-night venues. Police said two people were shot outside the premises that night. An 18-year-old and a 23-year-old suffered gunshot wounds and were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Several agencies assisted Davie police in serving the warrant on Oct. 6. They included the Fort Lauderdale Police Department and the Sunrise Police Department, the Broward Sheriff's Office, the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, known as the ATF, and the SWAT team from the Plantation Police Department. A SWAT team is a specially trained unit often called to support high-risk searches and arrests.

Trippie Redd was not arrested during the operation. Police announced no charges against him in connection with the search. The department said the investigation remains ongoing, and no further details about any connection between Redd and Jones have been released.

As with any criminal case, an arrest and charges are accusations rather than findings of guilt. Guilt or innocence is determined later in court. Police have not announced court dates or additional arrests.
