Blizzard is keeping more than 12,500 items secret ahead of World of Warcraft: Forever. The files are in the game but hidden from dataminers, players who search game files for unannounced details, to protect surprises for launch. GameSpot reported the figure on 30 September 2026.

Forever is a new take on Classic Azeroth, the original world map from the 2004 launch. It will add all-new content to that setting when it starts its new journey on 4 November 2026. GameSpot reported the November plan on 12 September 2026.

The full global launch is dated 4 November 2026. A beta test, a limited pre-release period for testing, began on 17 September 2026 and runs through 21 October 2026, according to Blizzard and a Warcraft on Facebook post. The secrets stay secret. That window covers the final weeks before release.

Players will get a choice of look. Forever includes an option to toggle between HD visuals, sharper modernised graphics, and old-school graphics. Character creation portraits now come in SD and HD versions to match the setting. Blizzard added back the standard-definition portraits for players with the SD toggle on following player demand, according to Wowhead.

The new zones play with memory. Blizzard designed them to invoke how players remember original WoW, rather than a strict copy of how it looked. GameSpot reported the approach on 22 September 2026. The idea is familiar but slightly altered.

Forever also adds a new playable Skyborne race and a Legacy System, according to notices on Blizzard. Player-versus-player progression, where players fight each other, is built around Honour, Rank Points, seasonal goals and original ranks. Rewards come through battlegrounds, PvP quests, weekly journey tasks and gear upgrades, with players working toward the titles High Warlord and Grand Marshal.

Blizzard has published class deep dives covering Hunter, Druid, Priest and Warrior. A second Forever podcast episode covers speedrunning classes, completing the game as fast as possible, with streamer Sodapoppin, host Countdown To Classic and designers Josh "Aggrend" Greenfield, Kris Zierhut and Aidan Moon. Details were listed on Blizzard.

On the retail side, World of Warcraft: Midnight gets its 12.1.5 content update on 13 October. It includes the Labyrinth of Kindo'jan, a nine-chamber challenge built like a Delve, a short repeatable adventure for small groups. That update is separate from Forever.

For players, this means two tracks to watch. Midnight adds its labyrinth in October. Forever follows in November with a familiar world, a visual choice and a large store of undiscovered items.
