Channing Dungey will take charge of MTV, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central and BET as Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery combine under Skydance.

The appointment puts some of the best-known names in American television under one executive. Dungey was formerly Chairman and CEO of Warner Bros. Television Group and US Networks, according to Deadline.

Dungey confirmed the new role in a memo to staff, reported on 7 October. In it, she said it was time to “turn the page and begin a new chapter.” She had taken on oversight of Warner Bros. Discovery networks including Discovery Channel, TLC, HGTV and Food Network at the start of 2025.

She will now also oversee the Paramount cable networks. In her new post she reports to George Cheeks, Co-Chair and Chief Content Officer of Skydance TV, and JB Perrette, Co-Chair and Chief Business Officer of Skydance TV.

Cheeks is also adding oversight of Warner Bros. Television and Paramount Television Studios, according to Deadline. Matt Thunell remains President of Paramount Television Studios. David Stapf remains President of CBS Studios.

The studio record cited with the announcement is specific. Since the start of the year, Warner Bros. secured 13 new series orders, meaning commitments to make a full season, and 13 renewals, meaning existing shows earned another season. Its slate stands at more than 80 titles for more than 20 platforms.

That history matters for staff. A scheduling decision decides whether writers’ rooms stay open and crews of hundreds keep working. Dungey’s previous brief covered both making shows in the studio and scheduling them on channels.

For viewers, this means one person now shapes two channel families that rarely sat together before. What makes this stand out is scale. Discovery and TLC sit alongside Nickelodeon for children, MTV for young adults and Comedy Central for comedy.
