Channing Dungey will stay on as a senior TV boss in the combined Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount business and take charge of more channels.

Dungey, chairman and chief executive of Warner Bros. TV Group and the US networks, confirmed her place on the new Skydance executive leadership team in a memo to staff on Tuesday evening, 6 October, according to Variety. The note settles a key staffing question for the merged group.

Her job gets wider. Alongside the Warner Bros. Discovery networks in the United States, she will oversee Paramount's Media Networks.

That group holds MTV, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon and BET. In plain terms, she will look after a larger shelf of cable and children's channels as well as the studio that makes shows.

She will report to George Cheeks, co-chair and chief content officer for Skydance TV, and JB Perrette, co-chair and chief business officer for Skydance TV. That is a shift. In the Warner Bros. Discovery era she reported directly to chief executive David Zaslav.

Dungey has led Warner Bros. TV Group since the start of 2021. She added the US networks at the start of 2025. The studio arm makes scripted and unscripted series for broadcast, cable and streaming buyers.

In her memo, she gave staff a snapshot of that pipeline. Since January, the studio has secured 13 new series orders, meaning commissions for brand new shows, and 13 renewals, meaning existing shows earned another season. Its current slate totals more than 80 titles for more than 20 platforms. Each order keeps writers' rooms, casts and production teams at work.

The wider television map is also taking shape. Cheeks addressed TV staffers across studios and networks in his first memo as Skydance TV co-chair, according to Variety. On the studio side, Matt Thunell is president of Paramount TV Studios and David Stapf is president of CBS Studios.

At the top, David Ellison is chairman and chief executive of Skydance, with Ynon Kreiz as co-chief executive, according to Variety. Ellison has said the combined Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount company will be called Skydance, according to The New York Times. There is other change in the ranks. Sam Register is leaving as head of Warner Bros. Animation.

For viewers, this means continuity. The executive who orders and schedules many US programmes stays in post, now with more channels to programme.
