Rihanna says she is sitting on at least 170 unreleased songs.

She gave the number on 7 October during a TikTok Live for Fenty Beauty. The question came from a fan asking about new music. Viewers could post questions during the broadcast.

She described the stockpile as at least 17 vaults with 10 products in each vault, according to Billboard. Simple maths puts that at 170. She put it as a minimum, which leaves room for more, and she did not name any titles.

In industry terms, a vault is storage for recordings that are finished or close to finished but have not been put out. Artists can build large vaults over years of writing and recording sessions. Tracks can wait while plans for albums, singles and soundtracks take shape.

Some are complete songs. Others are drafts that may still change. Labels and artists decide later what to finish, release or leave aside.

Rihanna has not released a full album since ANTI in 2016. That album spent two weeks at number one on the Billboard 200, the US albums chart that ranks the most popular albums each week. A decade has now passed since that release.

Her most recent music arrival was “Friend of Mine” in 2025, recorded for the Smurfs Movie soundtrack. Soundtrack songs are one-off recordings made for films, separate from an artist’s own album campaign. That single kept her name on new music credits while the wait for an album continued.

There have been other recent signs of activity around her as a performer and recording artist. In an August interview with Jason Lee, A$AP Rocky said she was in the studio and actively recording. In July, she sang “Run This Town” and “Bitch Better Have My Money” at Jay-Z’s Extra Innings show at Yankee Stadium, an event organised around live performance.

For fans, this means the size of the unreleased collection is now stated plainly. The wait since ANTI has produced constant questions about when new material will come. A number does not set a date, but it answers the question of whether songs exist.

No album title, tracklist or release date was reported from the live session. The vault figure was the news. Anything beyond that will need a separate announcement from the artist or her team.
