Star Wars: Galactic Racer will double its multiplayer party limit from three to six players in an upcoming patch.

Developer Fuse Games confirmed the plan in a reply from the game's official account on X, answering a fan question about the current three-player cap, as reported by Video Games Chronicle.

The team said the larger party size aims to arrive within the first few weeks of launch. No exact patch date was given. That timing remains a target, not a locked release.

A party, in online multiplayer, is the group that joins matches together and stays together between rounds. Right now in Galactic Racer, that group tops out at three. After the update, six players will be able to stick together.

Three works for a small household. Six fits a wider circle. It is the difference between splitting friends across matches and keeping everyone in the same race. Short races feel different when the whole group hears the same countdown.

For players picking up the game at launch, the practical point is simple. You can plan for trios today. You can plan for a group of six soon. If your regular group is larger than three, you will not need a workaround for long.

A patch is a downloadable update that alters the game after it is in players' hands. Studios use early patches to fix faults, adjust balance and lift limits set for launch stability. Fuse Games has not published technical detail on why the cap starts at three.

The format of the news matters too. There was no trailer and no on-stage announcement. There was a short reply to one player on X, the social platform formerly known as Twitter. Teams now handle many small feature confirmations that way, in public and in plain text.

That brevity leaves gaps. The reply did not list other patch contents. It did not name a version number. It did not say whether any cross-platform play will follow the same six-player rule. Players will need the formal patch notes for that detail.

Until the patch lands, the official account remains the place to watch. Studios usually confirm the date, download size and start time there first. Players who organise a weekly session may want to wait for that post before locking in six.

What makes this stand out is the social weight of a small number. Party size decides who plays together. Doubling it from three to six removes an early barrier for friend groups. For a multiplayer launch, that is a welcome early adjustment.
