Parquet Courts frontman Andrew Savage has started a new band, Iconic Fugues, and shared a first song titled "2025 Dream/2025 Blues". Pitchfork reported the launch on 8 October 2026. The announcement covers both the group name and the debut track.

Iconic Fugues are based in Marseille, in southern France. Savage put the group together after releasing his solo album, Several Songs About Fire, in 2023. A solo album is a record released under his own name, separate from his work with a band.

A recent Iconic Fugues performance featured Dylan Hadley and Santiago Aldunate alongside Savage. Hadley had previously collaborated with Savage on Several Songs About Fire. Aldunate is a member of Hantayo, a psych-rock band, a style of guitar-led rock built around extended and experimental arrangements.

The line-up is still taking shape. No fixed roster has been confirmed beyond those players. No label, release date or wider tour plan has been announced for the new project.

The new band does not mean the end of Parquet Courts. Savage said the group are "not active at the moment, but still a band." That is the full extent of the update.

Savage described "2025 Dream/2025 Blues" as a story about a man who wakes from a dream. He then realises, in stages, that waking life holds harsher realities with larger consequences. The song title points to that split between dreaming and waking.

For fans, this gives a clear starting point. There is a band name, a home city and one song. There is also confirmation that Parquet Courts remain a band, even while quiet. What comes next will depend on further releases and dates.
