Booker Prize short films cast Patel, Peake and Joseph as readers

Himesh Patel, Maxine Peake and Paterson Joseph lead six actors reading six shortlisted books on camera for this year's Booker Prize, with the line-up announced on 8 October, as reported by Deadline.
The readers also include Lewis Gribben, Kathryn Hunter and Savannah Steyn. Each performs in a two-minute film built around one title. The Booker Prize is Britain's best-known award for fiction written in English.
Choreographer and director Holly Blakey directed all six films, her second time in the role, as reported by Deadline. They were produced for the Booker Prize Foundation by Park Pictures, the commercial and film production company.
The pairings give each book a distinct voice. Patel reads from Black Bag by Luke Kennard, and Hunter reads from The End of Everything by M. John Harrison. Joseph reads from The Disappearers by Marlon James, who has won the Booker Prize before.
Steyn reads from May We Feed the King by Rebecca Perry. Peake reads from The Things We Never Say by Elizabeth Strout. Gribben reads from John of John by Douglas Stuart, as reported by Deadline.
What makes this stand out is the casting mix. Patel and Peake are familiar from film and television, Hunter and Joseph move between stage and screen, while Gribben and Steyn represent a younger generation of British performers. For fans, this means a quick way into the shortlist before the winner is named.
