A Different World Stars Reunite for Weekly Rewatch Podcast

Dwayne Wayne and Ron Johnson are getting a weekly podcast.
Kadeem Hardison and Darryl M. Bell will host A Different World View with Darryl & Kadeem, a rewatch show tied to the Netflix A Different World sequel series, as reported by Variety. A rewatch podcast is straightforward. The hosts revisit old episodes in order and talk through them with guests. A sequel series, meaning a new series set in the same world as the original, gives this one a clear reason to look back.
The podcast premieres on 15 October. New episodes will drop every Thursday. That weekly slot puts it alongside the rollout of the revival.
The show comes from iHeartMedia and Charlamagne Tha God's Black Effect Podcast Network. The network develops audio series with Black creators and hosts. Distribution, the business of delivering episodes to listening apps and handling ad sales, is by iHeartPodcasts.
Listeners will know the voices. Hardison played Dwayne Wayne on the original A Different World. Bell played his best friend and college roommate Ron Johnson Jr. Both actors also have major roles in the new Netflix sequel, so they sit on both sides of the story, as original cast and returning cast.
The first guest sets the tone. It will be Debbie Allen. The rewatch will not start with the pilot. It will begin with Season 2, Episode 2 of the original series, which was Allen's first episode with the show. Starting there lets the hosts open with her arrival and its effect on the series.
Allen carries three credits on the revival. She is an executive producer, meaning she helps guide creative choices and oversees production. She directed the premiere episode. She also appears on screen as Dr. Langhorne, according to Variety.
For fans, this means a familiar way in. Bell and Hardison grew up on screen with these characters. Now they will walk back through favourite early episodes, one Thursday at a time, while viewers meet the new class on Netflix. Short episodes. Long memories. Plenty to talk about.
